SPOKANE, Wash. – Spokane Transit Commission has voted unanimously to make significant changes to Grand Boulevard on the South Hill.
The road will be reduced from two lanes to one in each direction between 14th and 29th Avenue. A middle turn lane will be added.
City engineers estimate these changes will reduce crashes by up to 24 percent. However, drivers can expect their travel time to increase by 30 seconds to a minute.
There is currently no set timeline for these changes, but they are expected to occur next year when the city re-stripes the road.
