SPOKANE, Wash. – Spokane Sheriff’s Deputies used a drone to find a driver who left the scene of a crash.
According to a Facebook post by the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, on February 22, 2026, at around 5:00 a.m., deputies went to a crash near N. Monroe Road and W. Antler Road. Witnesses saw a barefoot woman walking into the woods after the crash. She seemed intoxicated and possibly hurt.
Worried for her safety in the 30-degree weather, deputies used a drone to find her. The drone spotted her heat signature, leading deputies to her location.
The woman was wrapped in a blanket and checked by medics before being taken to the hospital for further care. Deputies got a search warrant for a blood sample to check for intoxication.
The driver received a criminal ticket for Driving Under the Influence. She was not taken to jail because she needed more medical attention.
