Spokane County to honor Prosecutor Larry Haskell with appreciation day

SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. – Spokane County will celebrate Lawrence H. Haskell Appreciation Day on July 17, 2025, honoring the Spokane County Prosecuting Attorney’s dedicated service.

The Board of County Commissioners made the proclamation during its July 15 briefing acknowledging Haskell’s impactful career, which began in 1998 with the Spokane County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

By 1999, Haskell was prosecuting serious felony crimes, including those involving gang members, as part of the Spokane County Gang Prosecution Unit.

Before his career in law, Haskell served in the United States Air Force, flying all B-52 models and earning several commendations, including the Meritorious Service Medal. He returned to active duty after the September 11, 2001, attacks, supporting Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom, and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in 2005.

After his military service, Haskell returned to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, handling federal gun, drug, and gang cases between 2010 and 2013. He also served on the Airway Heights City Council and was twice elected to the Board of Directors of the Cheney School District.

The proclamation, dated July 15, 2025, celebrates Haskell’s exceptional public service and dedication to Spokane County. “We honor the exceptional public service and dedication of Spokane County Prosecuting Attorney Larry Haskell,” stated the Board of County Commissioners.
