SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. – Spokane Valley and Spokane County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) deputies, with the assistance of Air 1, safely arrested a fleeing suspect using spike strips and a PIT maneuver early June 20, SCSO said in a release.
Investigators said the 35-year-old driver was found to be traveling without a license plate and with a defective tail light and sped away when a sheriff’s sergeant attempted to pull him over.
Air 1 joined the pursuit, providing real-time updates on the suspect’s location and deputies used spike strips at Trent and Havana Street, deflating the truck’s tires before disabling the vehicle with a PIT maneuver, SCSO said in a release.
Investigators said the suspect tried to flee on foot when he tripped and fell, allowing deputies to arrest him. He declined medical attention at the scene.
During the investigation, deputies suspected Frazier was driving while impaired. A search warrant was obtained for a blood sample, which was taken after the driver was restrained at the hospital due to his uncooperative behavior, SCSO said in the release.
The suspect, who has two prior DUI convictions, was booked into the Spokane County Jail for attempting to elude law enforcement, DUI, and driving with a suspended license.
