SPOKANE, Wash. – Deputies with the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) arrested a 17-time convicted felon following the recovery of a stolen RV trailer, SCSO said in a release.
On July 22, 2025, around 1:05 p.m., a deputy investigated a possible crash involving an SUV pulling a camper. SCSO said the caller suspected the driver might be impaired after nearly hitting trees and a fence.
The deputy located a white Jeep near a travel trailer but did not observe signs of impairment.
SCSO said the deputy continued to investigate and discovered the trailer near N. Division Street and E. Farwell Road was supposed to be parked at a business in Airway Heights, and no one had permission to take it.
The stolen trailer, valued at about $40,000, was returned to the business.
Around 7:35 p.m., another deputy used Automated License Plate Readers (ALPR) to locate the Jeep.
The alleged driver, Aaron J. Leigh, 48, was identified as a prolific criminal with charges of Possession of Stolen Property 2nd Degree (6 convictions), Theft 2nd Degree (3 convictions), Forgery (2 convictions), Obtaining a Signature by Deception (2 convictions) Residential Burglary, and three Controlled Substance convictions, SCSO said in the release.
He was detained without incident and booked into Spokane County Jail for theft.
