Spokane County residents can dispose of wind debris at transfer stations

SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. – Spokane County road crews have been working around the clock to clean up debris from historic windstorms, according to the county, which is inviting private property owners to bring their storm debris to local transfer stations.

The transfer stations can be found at 22123 N Elk-Chattaroy Road, 3941 N Sullivan Road or at the City of Spokane’s Waste to Energy Facility at 2900 South Geiger Boulevard.

Transfer stations are open from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The cost to use a transfer station is $66.55 per ton plus a $3 fee per car used. The minimum fee for using the station is $11.

The County said people bringing debris to transfer stations should first cut debris so each piece is shorter than six feet, with a three-inch diameter.

The County said road crews in all four districts were cutting up and chipping downed trees and branches. After chipped downed trees, crews leave fire-length wood stacked on the side of the road, which will later be brought to the road district to be burned.
