SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. – Spokane County is set to expand its addiction and behavioral health services with additional federal support.
County officials have been working to expand the Spokane Regional Stabilization Center, which opened in 2021. The expansion will cost about $21 million and aims to enhance substance abuse, behavioral health crisis care and opioid epidemic care across the region.
Recently, Washington Senator Patty Murray announced she secured $3 million in congressionally directed spending for the project.
In 2024, the county dedicated $5 million to the project, using funds from settlements of state lawsuits against opioid manufacturers. The state of Washington also allocated $3 million. The remaining $10 million needed will likely come from the county’s mental health sales tax proceeds.
This expansion is a significant step toward addressing addiction and behavioral health issues in Spokane County.
