SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. – Spokane County Fire District #4 warned residents on social media about the potential for brush fires in the winter months after containing a blaze one-quarter acre in size.
The fire broke out on Sunday afternoon, according to SCFD.
“Even though it’s cold out, dead and dry fuels stay receptive to fire year-round,” SCFD said. “Winter conditions can give a false sense of safety, but it only takes a small ignition source for grass fires to get moving.”
“Thanks to the quick work of responding units, the fire was contained without further spread.”
