SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. — In Downtown Spokane, a Seahawk appearance in the Super Bowl meant planning a watch party.
“It was actually pretty fun because it was like planning a wedding,” Barracho Taco & Tequila General manager Tracey Touch said. ” I strategically had to put people in their spots.”
But as the night ended in victory, Touch says the atmosphere was electric.
“Not only is it the Super Bowl for us, it’s a community event,” Touch explained.
Between an EWU watch party waiting for Cooper Kupp to cinch a second Super Bowl and balancing the green and blue chips, Touch says the night was successful.
“We had every single seat full ,” Touch said. “We had every single table full. We had the EWU Watch Party. We had a ton of Eastern Alumni.”
And after the game ended, Seahawk super fans turned to another way to show their support: Super Bowl Championship merch.
At Dick’s Sporting Goods, fans flocked to purchase gear that commemorates victories.
“As I got here, I started picking up almost everything I could find in the store,” Janice Corey said.
As they did their shopping, Corey and others wore their best Seahawk custom gear.
“When I knew we were winning [the Super Bowl], I took the jersey off and everyone in the party saw my last name on this shirt,” Corey said.
And as Spokane County continues to celebrate the Hawk’s win, local business say they are prepping for a economic boom that will last the week.
