SPOKANE, Wash. – The upcoming Spokane City Council primary election will feature a single race this August in the Northwest District.
Incumbent Zack Zappone, who narrowly won his seat in 2021, is facing two challengers. Chris Savage, a conservative and Meals on Wheels board member, and Cody Arguelles, a business owner and retired Air Force instructor, are vying for the position.
This year’s race has become a referendum on several key issues including public safety, homelessness laws, housing reforms and the city’s progressive direction.
Ballots will be distributed on Wednesday. The top two finishers from this primary will advance to the November general election.
