SPOKANE, Wash. – The Spokane City Council is considering implementing a “No Turn On Red” policy in the downtown area to enhance pedestrian safety.

The proposed ordinance aims to prohibit right turns at red lights in locations with significant pedestrian traffic.

If approved, the policy would be gradually implemented over several years. Initial intersections for the ban would be selected based on pedestrian activity.

This measure is part of a broader effort to improve safety for those walking in downtown Spokane.
