SPOKANE, Wash. – Spokane kicked off Pride Month with a flag-raising ceremony alongside Spokane Pride. The dedication ceremony included a proclamation by the city declaring June as ‘Pride Month.’

“Excited to raise the flag for Pride again. And it was first raised at Spokane City Hall in 2017. So this is a tradition to kick off Pride Month with the flag raising,” Mayor Lisa Brown said.

No protesters attended the ceremony, allowing the event to proceed smoothly.

Upcoming events include ‘Pride in the Park’ in Coeur d’Alene Saturday, followed by Spokane’s Pride celebration on June 14. The celebration will feature a parade and festival at Riverfront Park.
