SPOKANE, Wash. – Spokane business groups are urging the city council to create reforms that would make it easier to address the presence of homeless people near their storefronts.
According to the Spokesman Review, several businesses have sent a letter to the council ahead of a vote on homeless reforms scheduled for tomorrow.
These businesses are advocating for the establishment of a downtown hospitality zone. In this zone, police would enforce mostly quality-of-life misdemeanor offenses.
As of now, it remains unclear if the city council is considering this proposal.
