SPOKANE, Wash. – In Spokane, a 10-year-old boy has achieved a remarkable feat, completing a streak of running one mile every day for 100 consecutive days. Harry Flaherty’s journey has inspired his community to embrace healthy habits.

Speaking at Manito Park, where he celebrated his milestone, Harry said, “Some days I didn’t want to do it, but I just pushed through.”

He reached this goal last Thursday, July 24, and his story is motivating others to get moving. Harry, who is about to enter fifth grade, began his daily running challenge on his 10th birthday. He committed to running one mile every day for 100 days.

“I made it to 100 days. And today is 100 right now. And, I’m really proud of myself,” Harry said.

What started as a challenge with his dad soon became a larger endeavor. His science teacher turned Harry’s run into the “Great Hawk Migration,” a summer-long project encouraging others to develop their own daily habits.

“I was starting to get really tired on day one, but I still kept going, and I believed in myself,” Harry shared.

Harry’s grandmother noted that his dedication influenced his family.

“He’s the oldest in the family. And he takes care of his siblings. So when he started this running streak, they all started running,” she said.

The goal for Harry wasn’t just about numbers.

“It’s about proving to himself he can achieve hard things,” his grandma added.

“Yeah, I’m going to keep on. I’m never going to stop. I’m going to do what I want to do,” Harry stated.

Harry’s story is not only about personal achievement, but also about inspiring others. His supporters believe in the power of community and encourage anyone with unique goals to know they have support.
