Spirit Lake mom transforms van into school shuttle for local kids

SPIRIT LAKE, WA – Savannah Bradetich has taken on a new role in her community, transforming her 1997 Chevy Express van into a school shuttle for local children. This comes after the elimination of a school bus route left many families struggling with transportation.

Bradetich noticed the challenge faced by families with both parents working full-time, especially with winter approaching. She understood the dangers posed by frigid weather and inadequate sidewalks. Her solution was to ensure safe transport for over a dozen elementary students each morning.

When the bus stops were cut, Bradetich took immediate action. She prepared her van with functioning seats and seatbelts to guarantee the safety of the children. Each morning, she warms up the van and picks up kids right from their driveways.

The community reached out for help, prompting Bradetich to expand her service. Many students, including first and fifth graders, needed rides. Her daughter, Addison, plays a significant role by greeting the students and handing out suckers at the end of the school day.

For Bradetich, this initiative is about ensuring the safety of neighborhood children. She emphasized the importance of community involvement in raising kids. Bradetich remains committed to adding more students as long as there is space and walking conditions remain unsafe.

Her heartfelt decision has positively impacted many families in Spirit Lake.
