Spokane, WASH. — Fans are still buzzing around town after last night’s 2-1 Sounders win over Vancouver. But one fan from got quite a souvenir to take home.
The team posted a video on social media of goalkeeper Stefan Frei walking over to the supporters section after the game. The section was much smaller than what the Sounders were used to due to the stadium’s size, but the diehard fans were still singing throughout the game.
The video shows Frei walk over to Kaia Williams to give her his jersey. He then signed a large drawing she drew of him and posed for a picture. Frei may have been on the lookout for that drawing when he entered the stadium in Spokane too.
Kaia’s dad Jeff says they are longtime Sounders fans. He says she put 14-15 hours into making that picture in the weeks leading up to the match. He says she has loved him as a player and an artist for a long time.
The day before the match, Jeff father posted a picture of her working on the drawing which Frei responded to on Bluesky writing, “Wow, that looks incredible!!!”
So it all came full circle after the match, when the keeper walked over to the family. The Sounders posted the interaction on X, which you can see below.
