According to Asotin County Fire District 1 (ACFD1), the Snake River Fire was contained by 7 p.m. on Thursday night, following the aggressive, coordinated efforts of both ground and air crews.
Officials stated that the fire originated in an area lacking formal fire protection, but quickly spread into the Blue Mountain Fire District (BMFD). With assistance from ACFD1, the City of Asotin Fire Department, Washington State Department of Natural Resources and the U.S. Forest Service, BMFD mounted a swift response to the growing blaze.

One firefighter was reported injured, sustaining a minor hand injury that was treated on scene.
“The incident serves as a reminder of the heightened fire danger during the current dry conditions, and residents are urged to use extreme caution when operating equipment or conducting outdoor work,” ACFD1 officials stated.
