
ASOTIN, Wash. – A brush fire near the city of Asotin, which has been named the Snake Fire, is currently burning 400 acres, according to Thomas Kyle-Milward, Communications Manager with the Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR).
The fire was first reported on Thursday afternoon around 3:41 p.m. The Blue Mountain Interagency Fire Center dispatched crews, and the DNR is assisting in battling the flames.
Five aircraft, including two helicopters and two air tankers, are on the scene, as confirmed by the DNR. Additionally, state mobilization has been requested to help contain the fire.
No evacuation orders have been issued for the fire at this time, however, Asotin County Emergency Management reported that Weissenfels Ridge Road is being closed down. Members of the public have been urged to avoid the area.
