CHENEY, Wash. – The Slightly West of Spokane Artists Studio Tour is once again opening its doors to the public, offering a unique glimpse into the creative world of local artists from Cheney and Medical Lake.
Founded in 2009 by painter Janet Wilbanks and potter Dennis Smith, the tour allows visitors to explore artist studios and community venues, providing an opportunity to purchase art directly from the creators. This year’s event features 14 artists working in a variety of mediums, including ceramics, woodworking, fiber arts, jewelry, and more.
The tour spans seven locations, each with its own unique personality, and includes artists like Michelle Schneider in ceramics, Chris Bradley in woodworking and knives and Rosanne Anderson in fiber arts and writing.
The event is designed to educate the public about artistic processes and encourages direct engagement with artists. Many of the venues offer light snacks, creating a welcoming atmosphere for all visitors.
Participants who visit all seven locations can enter a raffle for an appreciation basket featuring work from each artist. This annual event continues to celebrate the rich diversity of artistic perspectives and styles in the Cheney and Medical Lake area.
The event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. According to our partners at The Spokesman-Review, the tour will feature artists and their work at seven locations.
Smith will be at his studio at 609 N. Howard St. in Medical Lake. Shepard and Nutt will be at Roam Coffee, 116 N. Lefevre St., Medical Lake. Odjonii and Franks will be at Silver Twilight Studios, 324 E. Lake St., Medical Lake. Jones and Havercroft will be at Veda’s Beads, 13210 W. Medical Lake–Four Lakes Road, Four Lakes.
Bradley and Harris will be at Elk River Knives, 227 Gregory Drive, Cheney. Schneider and Simonsen will be at Schneider’s studio, 15204 S. Cheney-Spokane Road, Cheney. Summer, Cloie Milson and Anderson will be at Spotted Threads, 12525 S. Spotted Road, Cheney.
