
BILLINGS, Mont. – Six members of the Montana State University Billings cross country team were injured in a single-car crash on Friday night while enroute to the Whitman Open, the university said in a statement.
The team opted not to compete after the incident.
Several injured team members were treated at hospitals in the Spokane area.
“We are shaken by this incident and feel extremely grateful that all of our student-athletes and coaches are still with us,” MSU Billings Athletic Director Michael Bazemore said. “We are thankful for the medical response and physicians that treated our student-athletes.”
MSU Billings said all the families of the affected athletes were notified, “and the university remains in ongoing communication with them.”
