WALLACE, Idaho — Capt. Seth Green submitted his reignition from the Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office, marking the fourth leadership departure in three months. Green submitted his resignation to Sheriff William Eddy on Monday, with his final working day on Tuesday, January 13, and his official last day set for February 2.
Green was the last member of former Sheriff Holly Lindsey’s team. Lindsey resigned in October after an alleged hit-and-run incident, followed by Eli Lopez and Lance Stutzke’s departures.
Green’s resignation was influenced by the agency’s direction and recent staffing changes. He echoed former Undersheriff Stutzke’s concerns about political agendas undermining the agency. “I echo the prior Undersheriff’s words, as I am unable to support the current direction of cutting law enforcement,” Green said.
The local Fraternal Order of Police, where Green serves as president, had recommended Spike Angle for sheriff. Green criticized the commissioners for disregarding this recommendation and said, “Commissioner Zimmerman and Commissioner Cowles ignored the voices of law enforcement.”
Green cited a recent shooting in Wallace as an example of how staffing changes have impacted safety. “We had low staffing, and the staff who were at the office had to wait eight minutes for Kellogg units to respond,” Green said.
Following the incident, a command climate survey was conducted, revealing negative sentiments toward Eddy’s leadership. Green stated, “Many more expressed that they were looking to go elsewhere due to the many decisions made that they simply can’t support.”
Despite the turmoil, Green encouraged remaining staff to serve with pride and urged residents to engage with local leaders. “I am asking the citizens to start asking more questions as to why there has been a mass exodus from the sheriff’s office,” he said.
