GRANT COUNTY, Wash. – Grant County Major Crimes Detectives were investigating a fatal shooting in Schawana that occurred late Wednesday night, leaving a 44-year-old man from Beverly dead.
Deputies responded around 10:00 p.m. to a call about a car found along Road T.5-Southwest with a man inside who had been shot. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators reviewed video evidence showing a suspect vehicle leaving the Schawana area. Ephrata Police later spotted the vehicle and arrested 23-year-old Angel Luis Olivares at his Crest Drive home in Ephrata. Olivares was taken to Grant County Jail on suspicion of first-degree murder and drive-by shooting.
The victim’s body is with Coroner Craig Morrison, whose staff will perform an autopsy. The victim’s name will be released after family notifications.
Detectives are interviewing witnesses to determine if the shooting was gang-related. The investigation is ongoing.
