LEAVENWORTH, Wash. — Chelan County Sheriff Mike Morrison announced on Tuesday that active shooter training exercises are scheduled to take place in the Leavenworth area throughout January.

Sheriff Morrison warned that residents and visitors may observe a significant law enforcement presence, including both marked and unmarked vehicles.

“Please be assured that this activity is planned training only. There is no cause for alarm,” Morrison said. “These exercises are a critical part of our ongoing commitment to community safety.”

The training will involve coordinated responses and communication practice among deputies and partner agencies. This realistic training aims to prepare teams to act quickly and effectively during high-risk incidents.
