SPOKANE, Wash. – Shelby Lambdin is expected to be appointed to the Spokane City Council to fill a temporary vacancy. This follows the resignation of Lili Navarrete, who stepped down due to health reasons.

The Spokesman Review reports that Lambdin, a South Hill resident and health director at CHAS Health, was chosen as the sole finalist among nine applicants. Despite having no political experience, Lambdin impressed during interviews with her public health background and quick thinking.

Lambdin is expected to serve on the council for four months, with a permanent council member to be elected by voters in November.
