Shelby Lambdin has officially been announced as the newest member of the Spokane City Council, filling the vacant position to represent District 2 after the resignation of Lili Navarrete.
“This decision reflects our commitment to ensuring that our council remains fully functional and representative of District 2 interests,” Council President Betsy Wilkerson stated. “I have every confidence Shelby will contribute positively during her time in office.”
Lambdin was voted in during the council’s legislative session on Monday.
“Although a temporary position, I believe that with her experience, insights and contributions, we can continue to uplift the voices of the residents of District 2 and she will serve this city well,” Council Member Paul Dillon said.
SPOKANE, Wash. – Shelby Lambdin is expected to be appointed to the Spokane City Council to fill a temporary vacancy. This follows the resignation of Lili Navarrete, who stepped down due to health reasons.
The Spokesman Review reports that Lambdin, a South Hill resident and health director at CHAS Health, was chosen as the sole finalist among nine applicants. Despite having no political experience, Lambdin impressed during interviews with her public health background and quick thinking.
Lambdin is expected to serve on the council for four months, with a permanent council member to be elected by voters in November.
