Sex offender in child pornography case receives reduced prison sentence

IDAHO- Dakotah Robert Kitchen, 29, previously convicted of child pornography offenses, had his prison sentence reduced, according to an official document.

Kitchen was initially sentenced on July 21, 2025, by District Judge John Cafferty for possessing, distributing and producing computer-generated visual representations of child sexual abuse. The original sentence was a unified 15-year term with parole eligibility after five years.

On November 13, 2025, Kitchen filed a Rule 35 motion seeking a sentence reduction, citing errors in the judge’s comments during sentencing. During a hearing on December 30, 2025, Chief Deputy Prosecuting Art Verharen opposed any modification to the sentence.

Despite the opposition, Judge Cafferty reduced Kitchen’s sentence to a unified 10-year term with parole eligibility after three years. The judge explained that the modification was warranted due to a “greater detailed explanation” of Kitchen’s crime.

Kitchen’s sentence for producing computer-generated visual representations was revised from five years with no parole to five years with parole eligibility after three years. Additionally, his sentences for possessing and distributing child pornography were also reduced.

Kitchen will now be eligible for parole two years earlier than originally sentenced.
