SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. – Spokane County sheriff’s deputies arrested a man on Tuesday for a shooting in Spokane Valley that took place in late September.
Deputies originally responded to reports of the shooting near East Harrington Avenue and North Vista Road on September 29 at around 5:50 p.m.
A witness at the scene told deputies that they got into an argument with the male shooter over a vehicle, before he pointed a gun at them and then shot a bullet into the ground. No one was injured in the shooting, but deputies collected a 40-caliber shell casing that appeared to have ricocheted and shot through the wall of a garage.
The shooting suspect was later identified by the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office as 42-year-old Justin Hancock. Hancock has seven prior felony convictions, SCSO said, which also legally prevent him from owning a gun.
When his car was located on October 14, SWAT was called to assist due to the fact that Hancock was armed and had numerous prior convictions.
SCSO said they arrested him without incident, and he admitted to being a felon and knew he was not allowed to possess a gun.
Hancock was booked into the Spokane County Jail on assault and unlawful possession of a firearm charges.
