You can read Sen. Cantwell’s full statement below:
“Our hearts are breaking for the families of the KC-135 members killed in Iraq. Among those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our nation was Captain Ariana G. Savino. Captain Savino was only 31 years old, from Covington, Washington. She earned her commission in 2017 through the Air Force ROTC at Central Washington University. She was one of ours and we are praying for her family and grieve her loss.“These brave individuals provide a key challenging refueling service to fighter planes often involved in conflicts. They were young men and women serving our nation in the bravest manner possible. Our nation should mourn their loss and honor their service. We send prayers to their families and to those still in harm’s way.”
