YAKIMA, Washington – Kevin Lee Towner, a 61-year-old from Selah, was sentenced to five years in prison followed by 10 years of supervised release for possession of child pornography, the U.S. Attorney Eastern Washington District said in a release.
Towner pleaded guilty on April 10, 2025, after a search warrant in 2020 uncovered over 3,000 explicit images on his electronic devices. He admitted to using file-sharing networks to obtain these images, the release said.
In addition to his prison term, Towner must pay $45,000 in restitution to victims and $17,000 under the Amy, Vicky and Andy Child Pornography Victim Assistance Act. A $5,000 penalty under the Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act was also imposed.
Interim U.S. Attorney Pete Serrano stated, “This sentence sends a powerful reminder… Crimes that exploit children cannot, and will not be tolerated.”
Special Agent W. Mike Herrington from the FBI Seattle field office emphasized the damage caused by such material, noting, “Mr. Towner was found to possess not just some but thousands of these graphic images… The FBI is committed to protecting child victims.”
This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat child exploitation.
