SPOKANE, Wash. – A 1.5 acre grass fire on North Five Mile Road has been completely contained, according to Spokane County Fire District #9 Fire Chief Matt Vinci.
The fire’s forward progress was stopped and no structures are currently threatened, but North File Mile Road is temporarily closed between North Waikiki and Hawthrone while crews stick around to do mop-up.
Spokane County Fire District #9 fought the fire alongside Washington STate Department of Natural Resources and City of Spokane Fire Department.
The section of road will likely be closed for several hours and Spokane County Fire District #9 asked people to please avoid the area.
