SEATAC, Wash. – An inmate escaped custody while being transported at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport on Tuesday evening, the Department of Corrections (DOC) announced in a press release. Authorities are still searching for him.

According to the DOC, he managed to leave the airport and appears to have removed his restraints. He was last seen by officers crossing the light rail tracks and heading toward Highway 99.

The man, 20-year-old John Nino, is 6’2″ and was last seen wearing a red coat and green sweatpants. He also has a tattoo above his left eyebrow.

Nino was on community supervision for a conviction of second-degree robbery and was arrested a few days ago in New Mexico after failing to appear at meetings with his community corrections officer.

Authorities say if you see Nino, call 911 and do not approach him.
