WENATCHEE, Wash. – Authorities in Chelan County, Washington are actively searching for Travis C. Decker after the bodies of his three children were found near his abandoned vehicle on June 2, 2025. New documents have clarified the cause of death of the three children.
The discovery followed a report from Decker’s ex-wife, Whitney D. Decker, who alerted the Wenatchee Police Department when Travis failed to return their children as per a court-ordered parenting plan. Whitney reported her concerns to the Wenatchee Police Department, noting Decker’s recent mental health issues and lack of stable housing.
A warrant for Decker’s arrest was issued on June 2, after he failed to return the children at multiple scheduled times. Authorities utilized various resources, including cellphone records and license plate readers, in their efforts to locate Decker and the children.
On June 2, CCSO found Decker’s vehicle unoccupied near Rock Island Campground in Leavenworth, WA. Nearby, the bodies of three children were discovered, presumed to be those of Decker’s children, based on their clothing and proximity to the vehicle.
The investigation revealed signs of a recent camp in the area, and evidence at the scene included zip ties and plastic bags. Preliminary examinations suggest the children died from asphyxiation as each had a bag over their head. The Chelan County Coroner later positively identified the bodies of the children, who were 9, 8, and 5 years old.
The Chelan County Superior Court has issued a warrant for Decker’s arrest on charges of first-degree murder and kidnapping. Authorities urge anyone with information on Decker’s whereabouts to contact law enforcement immediately.
