SPOKANE, Wash. — Inland Northwest travelers will have a new option for reaching Seattle as Seaport Airlines launches commercial service from Felts Field in Spokane to Boeing Field in Seattle.
The airline begins daily flights Monday, marking the first time since the 1940s that Felts Field will handle commercial passenger service.
Seaport Airlines promises a streamlined travel experience that eliminates traditional airport hassles. Passengers can park within 100 feet of their aircraft and board just 20 minutes before departure without TSA security screening.
“You can park 100 feet from the airplane. Walk through the building. And 20 minutes later you are off for Boeing field downtown Seattle,” said Kent Craford, CEO of Seaport Airlines.
One-way tickets cost $299, with four round trips scheduled daily. The service targets business travelers seeking convenience over cost.
Dave Haring, CEO of the Spokane Airport, said the service appeals particularly to business travelers.
“This is a unique way for us to enhance connectivity, and I think it is really going to be enticing to business travelers more than anything. Because they are all about convenience,” Haring said.
The aircraft interior resembles a private jet, which Craford said was intentional to make luxury aviation accessible to the public.
“Jay Z, Beyonce, and Taylor and Travis don’t think anything of doing that very experience. Up until now that has been reserved for them. Well, we are making that experience open to the public,” Craford said.
