School bus crash in Pierce County sends 11 students to hospital

PIERCE COUNTY, Wash. — Nearly a dozen students were hospitalized following a collision between a school bus and a sedan in Pierce County. The incident involved a school bus with 32 students on board, heading to Collins Elementary.

According to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office, the sedan driver caused the crash as the school bus had the right of way at the intersection. A total of 11 students were taken to the hospital.

One student may have serious injuries, while the rest are reported to have minor injuries. The school bus involved did not have seatbelts, which is standard for school buses.

Authorities are investigating the crash, and it remains unclear what charges or citations the sedan driver might face. The driver is currently in the hospital.
