SPOKANE, Wash. – Reproductive rights advocate Sarah Dixit has announced her candidacy for the Spokane City Council. Dixit is aiming to unseat Councilmember Jonathan Bingle, who currently represents Council District 1.
Dixit, 29, graduated from Whitworth and now serves as the organizing director at Pro Choice Washington. Although she has no prior political experience, she has received endorsements from key figures including City Council President Betsy Wilkerson, Council Member Paul Dillon, State Representative Natasha Hill, and State Senator Marcus Riccelli.
Dixit’s campaign focuses on advocating for reproductive rights and engaging with the community in northeastern and downtown Spokane. Her entry into the race adds a new dynamic to the upcoming election, highlighting the importance of issues related to reproductive health and rights in the area.
As the election approaches, Dixit’s campaign will likely focus on gaining support from residents who prioritize these issues, while Bingle will aim to retain his seat by appealing to his existing constituents.
