SPOKANE, Wash. – The Spokane Police Department (SPD) arrested a suspect involved in the robbery of a business near 1000 West Summit Parkway on Friday afternoon.

The incident occurred around 1:54 p.m. A male suspect was observed stealing items, and claimed to have a gun after being confronted by an employee, though no weapon was seen. The suspect fled, prompting an employee to call 911 immediately.

Upon arrival, SPD officers used the description provided by the caller to locate a possible suspect at Cedar and Broadway, just eight minutes after the initial report. The male suspect was detained without incident.

After speaking with additional witnesses and completing their investigation, officers arrested Jerry G. Allen Jr., 38, for first-degree robbery and third-degree theft, according to SPD Public Information Officer Daniel Strassenberg.

The stolen items were recovered.
