Residential solar panel company facing nearly half a million dollars in fines

TUMWATER, Wash. – The Washington State Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) fined solar panel installation company Purelight Power LLC more than $250,000 for repeated violations, the department shared in a press release Thursday.

This isn’t the first fine issued against Purelight Power over safety concerns. Since the start of 2025, violations have also been recorded in Clarkston and Tacoma.

Washington law requires that all laborers who work more than four feet off the ground use protection from falls. This can include harnesses and anchored ropes.

“Including these most recent fines, there have been 11 inspections since 2021 where L&I found issues with Purelight’s fall prevention,” the department said in a press release. “The company currently owes L&I more than $460,000 in outstanding penalties.”

L&I stated that money collected from these kinds of fines then goes into the workers’ compensation supplemental pension fund to support workers and their families, as well as the families of those who have died on the job.
