SPOKANE, Wash. – A razor blade was discovered in a ballot envelope at the Spokane County processing center, according to Spokane County Auditor Vicky Dalton.
The razor blade has been turned over to the Spokane Police Department for investigation.
Dalton stated that no one was injured during the incident.
She emphasized the security of the process, noting that no envelope is opened until its barcode is scanned and the signature is checked.
“Nothing out of the ordinary was found from the ballot envelope,” Dalton said.
Despite this incident, the processing of ballots will continue as planned.
Police are actively following up on the situation to ensure the safety of all involved, Dalton said.
