QUINCY, Wash. — Police are asking for help from the community in their investigation into the shooting death of a Quincy man that happened early morning on May 15.

A release from the Quincy Police Department shared on Wednesday said Joshua Avalos was recently married and the father of son when he was shot and killed at about 1 a.m. on I Street west of 3rd Avenue.

Police collected video from neighbors in the days after the shooting, but they believe others may have additional video and other information that could lead to a suspect’s arrest.

Quincy police also addressed rumors that Avalos had been in a gang, saying Avalos had “gotten out (of a gang) years ago” and that the homicide didn’t appear to be gang-related.

“Joshua had recently gotten married, he was a son, a brother, and a father” the police press release said. “His family, son, wife, and loved ones are pleading for the public’s help.”

Police specifically asked for neighbors between the 100 and 400 blocks of I Street Southwest, J Street Southwest, K Street Southwest and L Street Southwest with security cameras to go back and check their video from that night. Everything from 9 p.m. on May 14 to 1:30 a.m. on May 15 could be useful to their investigation.

Anyone with information about where Avalos was before his death or with details about who killed him was asked to call Detective J. Silva at 509-797-3555.
