PULLMAN, Wash. – Pullman is experiencing changes in its fire department leadership. Assistant Fire Chief Ryan Scharnhorst will take on the role of interim fire chief following the resignation of Chief Brett Nash, which takes effect on August 1.
Scharnhorst has been with the department since 2009, starting as deputy chief of training and later becoming assistant chief of operations in 2013. He will serve as interim chief until Pullman hires a new city administrator. This new hire is expected to play a crucial role in determining the department’s long-term leadership plan.
Interviews for the city administrator position are set to begin in August, with hopes of filling the role this fall.
