Pullman Police address immigration enforcement concerns

PULLMAN, Wash. – The Pullman Police Department has addressed community concerns about recent U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement actions.

The department said that it does not enforce federal laws, including immigration, or assist with immigration enforcement efforts. “We follow and uphold Washington State law, which includes the Keep Washington Working Act,” said the department.

The department clarified it is not aware of any current enforcement activity by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Pullman. The department said that the community that obstructing law enforcement is illegal and dangerous.

Police said that community members with concerns are encouraged to use lawful avenues such as free speech, assembly, legislative processes or the court system.

Washington State University Police said Wednesday that rumors on social media claiming ICE was on campus are false.
