
PULLMAN, Wash. — pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity during a court hearing Friday.
According to court documents, 40-year-old Elijah Reagan entered his plea during an arraignment in Whitman County Superior Court.
According to Pullman police, after allegedly setting off a firework that blew a hole through the ceiling of his apartment, sparking a fire that left the building uninhabitable, police said.
Police said Reagan led officers on a . He was taken into custody around 11:41 p.m. and booked into the Nez Perce County Jail for arson and attempting to elude police.
Investigators said that while the building sustained significant damage, no one was injured. Several neighbors were displaced by the fire.
Court documents allege Reagan drove more than 60 mph with a flat tire, drank beer and smoked meth while fleeing police and fired a shotgun during the pursuit.
Reagan’s bail was set at $25,000 cash, with conditions prohibiting the use of drugs, alcohol or firearms if released.
