PULLMAN, Wash. – Firefighters in Pullman are alerting residents about the potential fire hazard posed by floating cottonwood fluff blowing around town.

The Pullman Fire Department responds to several fires each year caused by this fluff, particularly in the College Hill neighborhood.

Firefighters recommend residents take preventative measures to reduce the risk. They advise wetting the fluff, raking it up and disposing of it properly to help lower the number of fires.

Residents are encouraged to follow these steps to protect their homes and community from fires caused by cottonwood fluff.
