SPOKANE, Wash. – Protesters gathered in Spokane on Wednesday to honor Alex Pretti, who was killed by federal agents in Minneapolis over the weekend. Healthcare workers and allies marched from Riverfront Park to the federal courthouse.

Link Miles, a VA nurse and union president, expressed the community’s feelings.

“People that are going to work every day to take care of patients, to spend our…careers caring for people, and then be treated like that,” Miles said. “The contrast is undeniable as to…how do you reconcile that?”

As protestors across the country speak out on behalf of Pretti, new video footage has been released showing him interacting with federal agents on January 13, 11 days before he was fatally shot. The footage captures Pretti kicking a vehicle and agents tackling him to the ground. However, it does not show what happened before the deadly incident.

The Department of Homeland Security is currently reviewing this new footage.
