SPOKANE, Wash. – A months-long investigation led by Spokane Police Department’s (SPD) Special Investigations Unit has resulted in an arrest on multiple charges including sex trafficking and first-degree rape, SPD said in a release.

The investigation began in January 2025 after a report from the State of Idaho alleged sex trafficking involving a young juvenile, according to SPD.

SPD said it was revealed that Taurean D. Jones, 38, arranged to pay the victim for sex acts, both for himself and others, with the involvement of multiple agencies, including the FBI.

Evidence uncovered during the investigation showed that Jones provided drugs and alcohol to coerce the victim into sex acts over several months, sometimes using a firearm and physical force to threaten, and that some of the acts occurred at a local business, SPD said.

As the investigation continued, detectives said a second victim was identified. Following Jones’ arrest, search warrants were executed on his vehicle and a business downtown. Detectives said they found a loaded firearm and cocaine in Jones’ vehicle, with the firearm identified as stolen.

Jones was booked into Spokane County Jail. He made his first court appearance today on charges including promoting commercial sexual abuse of a minor, first-degree rape and possession of a stolen firearm, among others.

Jones, a known gang member, has a criminal past that dates back many years.

He was arrested on a charge of first degree assault in after a several hour long standoff in response to a shooting on Spokane’s north side.
