WASHINGTON, D.C. – President Trump said he is planning to travel to Egypt for an official signing of the initial ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas.
The agreement was reached almost exactly two years after the war began, when Hamas fired rockets into Israel, killing approximately 1,200 Israeli civilians.
Nearly 67,000 people in Gaza, including Palestinians, , and humanitarian aid workers have been killed since the fighting began.
The initial ceasefire deal will guarantee the release of all hostages from both sides, and a promise that Israel will withdraw military force from Gaza.
