SPOKANE, Wash. – Spokane County sheriff’s deputies arrested a man accused of a domestic violence attack against a pregnant woman.

Deputies responded to the 7000 block of N. Wall Street at 11:20 p.m. Monday after witnesses reported the suspect hitting the woman repeatedly in a vehicle while preventing her escape, the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) said in a release.

When deputies arrived, SCSO said the victim showed signs of assault and was receiving medical attention at the scene.

The 41-year-old suspect was arrested on multiple charges, including a felony domestic violence order violation, assault 4th degree (DV) and unlawful imprisonment (DV), SCSO said.

Investigators said a domestic violence-no contact order was in place, prohibiting the suspect from contacting the victim or causing her harm.

The suspect told deputies he couldn’t explain her injuries, alleging the woman became angry and started hitting him, SCSO added in the release.
