Post Falls residents urged to conserve water during well maintenance

POST FALLS, Idaho – The City of Post Falls is asking residents to conserve water as crews undertake unplanned maintenance on one of the city’s wells.

With the well temporarily offline, the overall pumping capacity is reduced, though the system can handle peak demand with one well offline, the city said in a release.

To help conserve water, residents are encouraged to follow an irrigation schedule.

Odd-numbered addresses should water on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, while even-numbered addresses should water on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.

Additionally, watering should be avoided from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., the city urged.

Residents are also advised to conserve daily water use by taking shorter showers, turning off water when brushing teeth, running full loads in dishwashers and washing machines and fixing leaks around their homes.

The critical timeframe for conservation is 4:00–9:00 a.m., when wells work hardest to meet demand and refill reservoirs, the city added.

The timeline for repairs is still being determined, but the city said staff is working to restore the well as quickly as possible. Updates will be provided once the well is back online.
