U.S. Marshals received more tips about Travis Caleb Decker after pushing out a media release yesterday about a possible sighting in the Bear Creek area of the Sawtooth National Forest.
A representative for the U.S. Marshals said they are evaluating each tip.
The U.S. Forest Service, U.S. Marshal Fugitive Task Force, Camas County Sheriff’s Office are doing a joint search of areas they believe would be accessible to Decker.
People should not pick up any hitch hikers, he encouraged, because Decker has a history of hitch hiking, according to the representative.
Additionally, people should refrain from flying drones in the area because they might disrupt the marshal’s ability to search with an aircraft, according to the representative.
BOISE, Idaho – The U.S. Marshals Service Greater Idaho Fugitive Task Force is asking for public assistance in locating Travis Decker who was reportedly seen in the Bear Creek area of the Sawtooth National Forest.
Decker is wanted by the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office for three counts of murder and three counts of kidnapping involving his children, ages 5, 8, and 9, on May 30.
On July 5, a family recreating in the Bear Creek area provided a tip matching Decker’s description, the U.S. Marshals Service said in a release.
He was described as a white male, between 5’8″ and 5’10”, wearing a black mesh cap, cream-colored t-shirt, black shorts, and a black JanSport backpack. He had a long ponytail, overgrown beard and mustache, and was seen wearing converse or vans low top shoes, the release said.
The U.S. Marshals Greater Idaho Fugitive Task Force collaborates with multiple agencies, including the Ada County Sheriff’s Office and Idaho State Police, to apprehend violent fugitives.
