GEORGE, Wash. — Grant County sheriff’s deputies arrested a 39-year-old George man Tuesday morning after a domestic violence incident led to a 90-minute standoff, according to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.
Ken J. Taylor was booked into the Grant County Jail on charges of fourth-degree assault – domestic violence, obstructing law enforcement, and being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, deputies said.
The incident began around 6:30 a.m. at a home in the 5500 block of North Frontage Road West, according to authorities. A 36-year-old woman told deputies that Taylor had “thrown her around” inside the residence.
Taylor initially refused to exit the home, the sheriff’s office said.
After 90 minutes of negotiations, deputies deployed pepper balls into the residence. When Taylor still didn’t emerge, deputies prepared to breach the door and deploy K-9 Storm, according to the sheriff’s office.
The police dog barked to announce his presence, prompting Taylor to surrender without further incident.
Taylor remains in custody at the Grant County Jail, authorities said.
